Hiking Ben Lomond

Two of my coworkers and I decided to climb the towering Ben Lomond Mountain on our day off. Armed with cookies and lunch we tackled the mountain! The terrain was rather forgiving and the elevation gain was only a real challenge at the end where the path led climbers over some small rock fields and very steep sections. When we reached the top the views were well worth the effort.

We could see all the way down to the station and Moke Lake, as well as Queenstown and over towards Arrowtown. The Mountains stretched on forever, undulating across the landscape as far as the eye could see.

Filled with accomplishment we trudged down the mountain, laughing and exchanging language lessons in German and English. Satisfied and anxious for dinner we hitched back from the town center to our house.
